Korruption (Krung Thep) Maha Nakhon
The Thai government recently presented new guidelines for the international use of the capital's official name, Bangkok. However, this guidance caused some confusion. Some people thought it meant that English speakers would have to address Bangkok by its longer, local name, Krung Thep Maha Nakhon, in the future. However, the Thai Royal Society recently stated that the new policy did not mean that people should stop calling the capital Bangkok. The Royal Society is responsible for creating academic and linguistic guidelines for the country. n its most recent guideline, the authority stated that the capital will now be officially referred to internationally as "Krung Thep Maha Nakhon (Bangkok). This was a change from the old guideline, which referred to the capital as "Krung Thep Maha Nakhon; Bangkok."
The short name for the capital means "great city of angels" in Thai.In usage, most Thais shorten this name to Krung Thep. In reality, ''corrupt city'' seems more correct than ''great city of angels,'' as Thailand's corruption ranking has dropped from 76th in 2015 to 110th among the 176 countries ranked by Transparency International (TI) in 2021.
''The only way out is for states to get down to the hard work of rooting out corruption at all levels to ensure that governments work for all the people and not just for an elite few,'' he said. CORRUPTION is like a deadly virus. It has no boundaries. We must fight it wherever it occurs."
